I recently bought the RX 7900 GRE after using RX 6700 XT for four years. My RX 6700 XT got hit by lightning strike. So you all know, you look at those fancy videos showing 200 - 350 FPS on the GRE and you think you are going to get that. Let me tell you I am right at the same place as my RX 6700 XT in terms of setup. Why. Sure, you buy a Corvette and you are going to drive it at top speed of 196 mph every day. Right. Well video cards are much the same way. To avoid a heat run up, bottlenecking my 5600X CPU, and fans sounding like my computer is going to take off, I cap my RX 7900 GRE right at 150 fps through AMD Adrenalin software. The average comes to about 100 FPS with 1440p res, which I find totally adequate in heavy gaming in Battlefield 2024. I ended up nearly exactly the same settings as the RX 6700 XT. I had to cap settings on the 6700 also to keep the junction temperature of the graphics card in the 70c - 80c level. Else the temps ran right up to 110c the first couple times I used the 6700. So why did I spend $ 560 on a RX 7900 GRE. With the settings I have, I could of bought much "cheaper" graphics cards that would not overheat. But the one benefit I noticed with the 7900 GRE is that my FPS lows are higher and more stable. With these settings my grahic card is running at about 60% and CPU 60 - 80 %. My system 1200w Black Box power supply AMD 5600X CPU Corsair Vengeance 3200 LPX ram 32gb AMD RX 7900 GRE Graphics Card AsRock Phantom Gaming 4 ac motherboard (built in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth - I love the Bluetooth for file transfer) Acer Nitro 27" 180mhz monitor. ViewSonic 22" 60mhz secondary monitor Harman Kardon speakers. Sama Computer Case

maybe it would be easier to start with disabling cpu turbo boost, before u start disassembling the laptop, cooled my cpu by around 30 degrees changing that one simple setting

To get the fan cleaned properly, you need to take the fan unit itself off the heatsink and clean the inside of metal fins. That area between the fan and those fins typically catches an entire layer of dust that clogs the whole outlet, choking a LOT of airflow.

Always unplug the battery first before you do anything.

It can be installed in place of HDD & HDD can be placed in CD RW player. If your computer doesn't have seperate place to add SSD.

my 10 year old laptop is hovering around 60c when idle, when gaming even if its only 2D game the cpu goes around 85 - 90c like bro cmon, are my cpu about to fail or smth. Meanwhile the gpu never exceeds 75c edits: yes, even if im playing 3d game (not that it's heavy 3d, it's re4 remaster) the gpu only hover around 60 - 75c cpu: i3 3217u (17watt tdp) with whopping base clock 1.8ghz (no boost clock yes)

Don't take 580 it can't play Alan Wake 2 because of lack of mesh shaders and old artitecture.

Title says easy way to get rid of heat and proceeds to remove his fan from his laptop… also applying new paste on cpu is crazy… I bought a laptop cooler pad on Amazon and now it’s only around 30-40 degrees
